The good news is that
you can try before you buy! Details of where we meet can be found here. The best bet is to contact our Secretary Dave Sweet and
tell him that you are intending to visit the club or alternatively you can just
turn up on the night. Phoning
beforehand ensures that we can look out for you and sort out runners of a
similar standard who are running the distance you want to run. Dave's
contact details can be found here. After a month’s
trial you will be in a position to decide whether you want to join or not.

Membership
forms
All members, whether new
or renewals, are asked to complete a membership form and give/send your cheque and form to Pat
Godfrey or any committee member as soon as possible. This will ensure the club
retains up-to-date records.
England Athletics Affiliation Scheme
Please add £5 if you are a First Claim Runner who intends to
compete in races. This is a requirement of the new England Athletics
Affiliation scheme whereby each competing athlete needs to be registered by
their club and pass on the affiliation payment. If you are a second claim
runner who has paid this fee via their first claim club, there is no need to
pay this fee. A separate form
will need to be completed as well as your Striders membership form. For family
membership £5 needs to be added for each competing family member over 11 years
old.
This is potentially slightly confusing because the EA dates do not match
our membership year. The committee are proposing that we synchronise the dates,
and their proposal is reproduced below (to be discussed at AGM in May 2008).
Dear Billericay
Striders,
Please see the following announcement concerning our
membership year and the England Athletics membership year and fees.
I appreciate that this will not affect you all, as not
all of you signed up to England Athletics last year, but the change to the
membership year will be of interest to you.
The Committee are proposing that with our Striders
membership year currently running from June to May, and the England Athletics
membership year running from April to March, that the two are gradually
combined over the next 16 months to come up for renewal together. Below, I have
outlined the proposed process for your information / feedback.
Currently
Striders Annual Membership Fees £25 which expires
31/05/2008, when new year commences.
England Athletic Competition Fees £3 which expires
31/03/2008
On the Horizon
England Athletic Competition Fees will increase to £5 from
01/04/2008 for the next 12 month period.
We will begin to collect this Fee from 01/03/2008 to
give ourselves a month window to collect from all those that wish to compete in
races. We will then send this off to England Athletics around about 1st April
2008. After that, it will be down to individuals to pay the £5 direct to
England Athletics rather than go via the Club Membership Secretary.
Looking slightly further ahead
From 01/06/2008 we will collect a reduced fee for
Striders membership for the period up to and including 31/03/2009. This 10
month rate will be £15 Single, £5 OAP's, Students and Unemployed, £25 Family.
Longer Term
As from 01/04/2009 this will be the new start date for
the Striders membership, to fall in with the England Athletics membership year.
Therefore going forward from this date, subs for both organisations will be
collected simultaneously.
Our AGM from season 2009 will change to January and
this will be expanded upon at the May AGM in 2008".
Kind regards
Dave Sweet
Club Secretary
