News from the Striders
23rd April 2006
Back from the Blue Boar. Enjoyed the Guinness and the Stories! From what I can
find out looks like Sixteen Striders completed the Marathon today. Well done to
all! Here are the results for the sixteen.
(if I have missed anyone, myapologies and let me know!) Some great times and two
more join Steve Tidiman who qualify automatically next year as 'good for their
age'. Here is a picture of
some of the sixteen. Hopefully all
the Striders should be home as I write this. Perfect day for running a
Marathon. Not so good if you were spectating on the streets. Maybe that is why
I choose to sit in front of the television! Must say the beeb do a good job of
coverage. Anyway off to the Blue Boar soon to get the scoop and a picture or
two. Hope to have the news and a couple of pictures later. Watch this space
Updated the 10K page. Now has the countdown clock running!!! Entry forms due
early summer.

A number of Striders took part in the Essex PB 5 in Basildon over the Easter.
And another success story for Crispian, with him coming home in first place
closely followed by Jamie in third. Overhearing some conversations at Club
night tonight, there were a few PB's. The race title lives up to its name! Good
news that coach Roy did make it home in the Boston Marathon finishing in 4.36.
Well done Roy. See you Thursday!
17th April 2006
We may have finished our Easter holiday but has Coach Roy finished the Boston
Marathon? Today is race day over in Boston and as I write, I am search the
Boston results, but can't fine him yet. Now I wonder if he has turned off
somewhere to do a second lap?!? My congratulations to Mike Wheatley who
completed his first solo triathlon today. Mike completed in the Thames Turbo
event near Hampton Court this morning. Every triathletes nightmare as the cycle
course had temporory lights on it due to road works. But did not discourage
Mike who finished a creditable 181 out of 262. Well done Mike. Hope to see you
down the club tomorrow. Heard nothing from Coach Kevin and the fast boys and
Louise at the first Crown to Crown on Good Friday. Hope you all had a good run.
Easter has allowed me to do a lot of work to the Calendar on the website. A
number of races added with links to the entries. If there is any you would like
me to add, email me the details. One week to go until London. Best of luck to
all running. Take it easy this last week.
9th April 2006
Sorry for the delay, but the results of the first handicap are now available here. Six PB's, three of them by over
one minute!!! First home was Sarah Frost on her first handicap, followed by
Gail Royston with Keith Porter in third. Quickest time of the day went to Andy
Coleman. The outstanding question is what happened to Coach Kevin??? Latest
edition of 'The Strider' is now available on line and can be found here. Happy
reading!
2nd April 2006
First handicap of the season today. No results as yet, but when I get them I
will upload. Apologies for the lack of news last month. Hopefully normal
service can be restored this month!
