14th January 2006
Final results are now in from Hilly
Fields last week and therefore the final league placings.
And another great year for the Striders. The Ladies finished 10th out of
seventeen. This is an excellent performance when you consider we only had one
race where we had a full team and one race where we did not field a team. The
Men finished a fantastic 5th ahead of Athletic clubs such as Thurrock and Basildon. What was
also impressive was that eight Striders appeared in four or more of the five
race season. This should also be a good basis for building a strong team for
the Sunday Cross Country, where results are starting to pick up. Here are the final results.
8th January 2006
Hot off the Press! We finished
second today. Well done everyone. Full results are available on the Cross
Country page. Apologies for our Division Two readers. Hope to have these
results later in the week. Double helping of Cross Country this week. Final
event of the Essex League at Hilly Field on Saturday. Full results to come, but
two Striders in the top five with Crispian finishing
just ahead of Jamie. The Ladies saved themselves for
the following day! Onto Sunday and to One Tree Hill. It was hard, it was long
and at times it was cold. Good Cross Country conditions! I had to leave before
the results were announced, but as I waved goodbye, we had scored 133 which
should be good enough for at least third and maybe better! Hopefully I will
have the full results later. If you have not done so already, get your menu
selections to Jan for next Saturday's presentation evening.
2nd January 2006
First of all Happy New Year from
everyone at Billericay Striders.
I hope everyone is ready to pound out those miles following the festivities!
First Training night following Christmas is tomorrow. Usual time and place. Hannakins at 7pm. See you there! Think of Men's Captain and
Coach, Roy Fleming, who has headed off to Florida for the Disney Marathon along
with Sue who will be competing in the half Marathon. Best of Luck folks. Don't
miss the cold too much! Plenty coming up for the Striders. The main event you
should have in your Diary is the Presentation evening Saturday week, 14th
January at Stock Village Hall. If you have not booked your place, check in with
Jan Pardon. Before that we have a double helping of Cross Country. First of all

Fields in Colchester. Details can be found on the Essex League Cross Country page. Ladies Race 1.35pm and is 6k,
Men's Race 2.10pm and is 9.7k. On Sunday we move on to the South Essex Sunday
Cross Country league with Pitsea hosting at One Tree
Hill. This is important fixture as we have had two lowly places in the first
two events and are looking over our shoulder at relegation. Remember also that
these count towards the Club Championships. Details can be found here.10.30am
