News from the Striders

26th June 2005
Well done to Geraldine Howard, Ricky Lee, Malcolm McCann and Coach Fleming for completing the Tri Sport Epping Try-a-Tri. Looks like there could be some converts here! If you fancy a go at Triathlon, it is still not too late. Blackwater Tri Club are running one on Sunday 18th September (Note - this clashes with the Ingatestone 5) and there is two distances to chose from. Check out the Blackwater Tri Club website for details. The latest edition of 'The Strider'in now available here. It covers the two extremes of Happy Marriage. Vic and Doreen's Golden Wedding Anniversary (Is that why he runs soooooooo fast!) and Crispian and Zoe's Wedding (Never seen the boy looking so smart!). We have just passed the longest day of the year and one very hot week, but already plans turn to Autumn and Winter with details of the Essex League Cross Country and the Essex Masters Cross Country available in the latest Strider and also on the Race Calendar. Now that should help to cool you down!! LAST CHANCE THIS WEEK to renew your membership or pay extra. In fact you have until Thursday. 13th June
Congratulations to Vic Pridmore, first M70 Vet home in the Southend Half Marathon on Sunday in a very impressive time of just under 1.39! Now I personally just dream about a time like that for a Half Marathon. Well done Vic. Look forward to seeing the Trophy. Here are the Full Results..

While the weather was not great today, I am sure some of the Striders would have been pleased as they were taking part in the Jim Peters Half Marathon down in Southend. No results as yet, but if I get them I will upload.

6th June 2005
The second handicap of the season, and also the latest club championship event took place yesterday at Lake Meadows. Thrity members turned out to do battle. Congratulations to Kathleen McCrow who won the Handicap by nearly a minute (Wow!!!). Second was Mike Wheatly followed by Jenny Pealling. Fastest time of the day went to Jamie, followed by Kevin Jacob with Dave Sweet breaking 16 minutes to come in third. Here are the Full Results..
