News from the Striders

29th May 2005
The AGM has taken place and decisions have been made. Probably the biggest is to increase the membership fee BUT, if you renew before the 1st July you can get membership at the old rate. The main thinking behind this is to encourage members to renew promptly. Too much time was being spent chasing memberships up to six months after they were due. This renewal format is common in many clubs. So pay up early and save money!

Sadly I did not make it, but I hear there was a good turnout of Striders for the latest Club Championship event, the Great Baddow 10 mile road race. As soon as I have then, will post the results. Lots coming up in the next couple of weeks. First of all on this Thursday, 26th May, it is the Striders AGM. Please note that the Clubs normal Thursday run will be from the Information Centre at Norsey Woods at 7pm and NOT Hannakins. The AGM will follow after the run. Please make every effort to attend, especially as there is a motion about the subs for the coming year(s). Then on Bank Holiday Monday, there is 'Beat the Bounds' from Dave Sweet's house. There are two routes. On road which is 11.7 miles or Cross Country which is 13 miles. Start time is 9.30 am. If you intend to take part, please let Dave know as the Sweet household is laying on food afterwards. Then on Sunday 5th June, there is the next Club Championship event in the form of the next time trial! 9am start from Lake Meadows.

Hi Folks. Yes I am still alive. Just back from a bit of a world tour. Family Holiday in Florida with Mickey & Minnie and half of Essex taking advantage of the later school holidays (Guess the other half were competing in London!) and then back to work, but in Germany. Hope to be back down the club on Thursday. And so to London, and the other Marathons where are members took part. So, what happened in the various Marathons. I guess most people in the club will know by now, but, for the record, here are the the results from the Official site. Anyone I have missed? I will see if I can catch up on the others this week.
